Rationale & Approach
Sustainable Hanover is more a movement than any one entity. That said, the Sustainable Hanover Committee strives to provide access to and information about learning opportunities for members of our community.
Most of us are busy and engaged people, balancing families, friends, work and other passions. To that end, Sustainable Hanover seeks to provide a spectrum of resources and events to enable all citizens to participate in ways that feel comfortable to them.
As this diagram describes, we are all somewhere on the spectrum of being unaware, being aware, but not very active, and being active in striving to lead a more sustainable lifestyle. Given the number of opportunities to learn about the issues, it can be overwhelming and paralyzing - We may understand there is a problem, but not know how to take action in a relevant and meaningful way.
Sustainable Hanover seeks to promote a collaborative, community-based approach that welcomes a breadth and depth of opportunities to participate in creating a more sustainable community. Come join us!

February 7, 2009 Community Workshop Archive - Public Communications
The Public Communication and Media Working Group Priority Actions, based on the February 2009 Community Workshop:
- Provide Broadband to those who do not currently have high speed internet access (Access is a necessary condition for full access to Sustainable Hanover initiatives and action)
- Develop relationships with specific Hanover and other locally-owned businesses and non-profits that are in the communications and media arena.
- Establish a dynamic, interactive “one-site shopping” town Web site to integrate all ‘silo’ sustainability initiatives in one forum. This site will serve as a model/prototype for individuals to take action locally that support global initiatives.
