Individual & Family Action
In a world that can sometimes feel out of our control, we have a great deal of power. We live in a community where we have choices, some might argue, too many choices! In the context of climate change and peak oil, however, individual actions matter a great deal: They matter because taken together, individual consumer actions account for about 30% of carbon emissions (directly and indirectly); They matter because what we do impacts the lives of our children and grandchildren - we are role models and stewards; Finally, our actions matter because, they do. We hope that this section will provide you with information and tools to make a difference.
1. How am I doing - Self-Study & Assessment
Just as we take care of our physical and financial health, we need to care for our impact on the environment. If you want to lose weight, you start with how much you weigh and how you eat; If you want to save money, you begin by knowing how much you have and how much you want to save. We all need a starting place and goal against which we can measure ourselves.
To Begin - Be a Trendsetter
In Hanover, we encourage you to join the Hanover Team/Community (03755) as part of the Repower at Home initiative. Our goal is to have 150 households participating by 11/11/11.

To Go a Bit Further...:
For those wishing a more in depth approach to tracking progress, participate in the Hanover Carbon Challenge through My Energy Plan. Our goal is to have 50 households participating by 11/11/11.
